What type of backcountry pole do I need?
Alpine Ski Poles: 1 Piece. Fixed length. For alpine use, designed for maximum downhill stability.
Backcountry Ski Poles: 2 Pieces. Adjustable, extended grip for sidehilling. Designed for alpine touring skiing.
Splitboard Poles: 3-4 Pieces. Collapsible or foldable design. Can be safely secured to a pack for descending while backcountry splitboarding. Extended handle grip, and a pointed pommel for heel risers.
Snowshoe Poles: 2 Pieces. Adjustable to fit a range of heights. Simpler design, most budget friendly. Not recommended for downhill use.
