STAFF PICK

These skis are the holy grail. I'm dead serious. You can go further, ski better, and feel stronger doing it. This is the kind of ski weight where you don't mind carrying them in your hand or over your shoulder for a while. The super light swing weight also helps you in agility and direction, while the fat waist width floats you, allowing you to surf down the hill. At the same time, they have the right amount of sidecut for that carving sensation we all look for. When I bought them, I knew I would love them when the snow is really deep. It didn't take me long to prefer them for every ski day of the season when the snow is as shallow as 5" deep. Ski something narrower and heavier on steep crust. For everything better than that, trust me.... these will change your life. Plus, they are manufactured in Utah by really nice backcountry ski lifers at Voile.

FROM THE MANUFACTURER

Introducing the Voile Hyper V8. The beloved shape and camber profile remain unchanged, but the rest of the ski has been overhauled. Starting with the core, we switched to paulownia wood from aspen. We’ve doubled the amount of carbon fiber and re-enforced the binding mounts to account for the lighter core. Finally, it’s all wrapped up in a sharp new graphic made from the most durable and snow/ice-phobic topsheet material we use.

You still get the irony-filled performance of the original Voile V8: Brawny, yet agile—fat, but featherweight. It has the width to float the deepest powder—yet remains quick edge-to-edge for all those non-powder days. It maintains a high fun-factor even in less than perfect conditions. It’s all of those things—just much lighter.

The Hyper V8 is a culmination of little changes to create a brand new award-winning high-performance ski. Same… but different… and still awesome.

FEATURES

Core

Paulownia Wood Core
Renowned for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, this paulownia delivers a combination of durability and featherlight agility. It's the ideal foundation for constructing ultralight touring skis, making it the perfect choice for backcountry enthusiasts seeking maximum efficiency and agility on their mountain adventures.

Voile Carbon-Weave x2
Two layers of Voile Carbon-Weave combine the lightweight strength of carbon fiber with the durability of triaxial fiberglass. The strategic integration of carbon fiber into the ski's construction reduces the weight while providing the perfect blend of responsiveness, stability, and energy transfer, allowing skiers to maneuver with precision and control.

Profile

Tip: Hybrid rocker tip and wide shovel provide unmatched float in powder.

Waist:
Shorter running length with extended contact points. Engineered for agility. Cambered underfoot for stability.

Tail:
Tapered hybrid rocker tail for smooth maneuverability in variable conditions.

Base

Sintered Black Base
This ski passes on the base graphics for the sake of an ultra-high molecular density base; making for faster downhill performance and greater wear/impact resistance. And you can rest assured that your p-tex repairs will be seamless after your day spent breaking the sound barrier.

Topsheet

Anti-Ice Topsheet
Crafted from exceptionally durable polyamide material, and designed with a unique texture that effectively reduces the accumulation of snow and ice. This innovative feature is particularly beneficial during long approaches or in freezing conditions, where snow and ice buildup would normally hinder performance.

Edges

Full-Contact Steel Edge
Steel edges provide superior grip and control on hardpacked snow and icy conditions, enhancing stability and confidence while skiing. Two lengths of hardened steel with inset teeth wrap the perimeter of this ski. Each section is painstakingly shaped by hand to ensure a precise layup.

Other Features

Triaxial Fiberglass
Triaxial fiberglass increases dimensional stability along three axis, providing for balanced torsional stiffness and enhancing your ability to control the ski (precise and firm edge grip). Triaxial fiberglass maintains a consistent flex pattern throughout the ski, ensuring predictable performance across different snow conditions and skiing styles.
